~New Korean Dramas I’ve been checking out~

As the Summer comes to a close and Fall is in the air I find myself wanting to curl up with my crochet project and watch some Dramas. I renewed my Dramafever account and dived into the new shows I have missed. Here are a few i’ve been watching.

Cinderella and Four Knights: This is a cute drama that is currently coming out on DramaFever. It centers around a hard working girl who does not have a great home life and three well off cousins who each have their own lives and issues. She finds her self thrown into the middle of the cousins with the mission to change them for the better and stop them from misbehaving. You will have your favorite cousin for sure and find yourself laughing and feeling bad with the characters.

Scarlet Heart: Ryeo: This one caught my eye because of some scenes posted on DramaFevers facebook page. It is a period drama taking place in the Goryeo period of Korea. A modern day girl finds herself thrown into the past and around several princes whose fate she knows a little about. She knows that something bad occurs during this time involving the royal family. She finds her self growing closer to the royal family and learning more about them as individuals. Who is your favorite Prince?

Bromance: This is a Tawainese drama that aired in 2015 and man I got hooked on this and binged the whole series. It’s a funny/serious/complicated gender-bender romance that involves gangsters, sworn “brothers”, and several romances. The main character is a girl who has had to live as a man for 26 years because of a fortune. She is so close to being able to live as a girl when she rescues a gang leader and becomes sworn brothers with him. This complicates her life since people are not supposed to know she is a girl until the time is right. She becomes best friends with the Leader and gets thrown in a lot of drama involving several other characters. If you like gender-bent dramas then this is one to check out.

~First Impressions: Stranger Things~

This last month brought forth an AMAZING Netfllix Original Series “Stranger Things” and the social medias have been reeling from it. After seeing so many great things on Twitter and Facebook I had to check this series out.My hubby and I sat down one evening and pressed play, I must say no regrets. From the first episode we were hooked. My husband was a child in the 80’s and so he really appreciated the many throwbacks and references to 80’s movies, games and other pop culture.

This series embodied many of the best things from some of our favorite movies like: “Alien”, “Aliens”, “The Thing”, “Stand By Me” and many others. Every episode was good and the end of each one left us wanting more. The young cast did a fantastic job and pretty much out shined any of the older actors. You defiantly form favorites.

The series was good throughout and has a lot of possibility for a continue of greatness in the next season. There are so many things that could be explored and touched upon. I eagerly await the next season, it could not get here fast enough.

What did you think of this series? Who was your favorite character? Let me know in the comments!

~First Impressions: Anne-Happy~

I am usually drawn to anime series like this with large eyed colorful characters that are in a word MOE. This anime is quirky in many senses but is also a simple joy to watch with little stress. You follow a group of girls who are all very unlucky in different ways. Each of them has entered a new school and in their class the main goal for the year is- to be happy and over come their misfortune.

Some of the misfortunes are wacky and silly but it is fun to watch this cast  of girls deal with each situation.

~First Impressions: Pan de Peace~

A mini ‘sode anime series about a girl who is obsessed with you got it “Pan” otherwise known as bread. The episodes last a mere 3 mins and at this point there are 11 episodes.
Cute and funny with themes of friendship. There are some weird little tid bits throughout to make a fun veiw. This little anime will make you drool over all the delicious looking breads though, so dont watch on an empty stomach.

First Impressions: Haven’t you heard? Im Sakamoto

A quirky anime about a cool and stylish student named Sakamoto who is the subject of resentment from his fellow male students and the crushes from his female peers (and some of his male ones). He handles every situation with grace and style, though many of the situations are a little silly from sword fighting with a Bee to battleing forces of nature.

The series consists of 13 episodes and is packed with zany fun in each one. Since being simulcasted starting in April I have come across many a posting across internet sites of funny moments. A little late to the game but I finally found this series and think it is def one to sit back and watch.

Divinity Original Sin = A+ Couple Game

Divinity is a one-player/multiplayer fantasy role play video game that is very reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons to my Husband and I. This game is jam packed with content, we played 30 hours in the first town making sure we didn’t miss anything at all in that map. The game play is really good for co-op in my opinion because you are able to lock your screen into a split screen and both people can go off and do whatever and not be held down by the other player.

There is so much content from talking with lots of NPC’s, getting quests, making things to sell, fights and exploring the maps. The fighting system is turn based and goes by initiative similar to the D&D system. There is a fighting style for everyone, if you like magic casting, long range bow shooting, sneaky close range dagger slicing, or tank two handed sword/axe bashing.

This game was partially funded by Kick starter and has become critically alclaimed with a sequel now in the works! I think this game is great for couples to play together or just by yourself. This is a team work building game with so much fun fantasy aspects that draw you in to the story.

~First Impressions: One Punch Man~

One PUUUUUUNNNCCCHHHH!!!!!

So. ~Ahem~ This series aired at the end of this last year and boy did it sweep across the anime community quick! It aired a total of 12 episodes and holy moly is that not nearly enough.

The plot focuses on a hero for fun Saitama who is so powerful he decimates his enemies with just one punch (hence the name). This grows old for Saitama because he craves a equal fight to really get him pumping. Soon he finds himself getting involved with much more serious happenings and meeting a host of quirky (some uncomfortably terrifying) characters. There is a bit of all sorts of comedy and nippits of seriousness in this show. You have cyborgs, martial arts, espers, monsters, aliens and so much more.

My husband and I watched this show together on Hulu while it was simulcasting and loved every bit of it. It is so funny and the fight scenes are pretty great. The main character is unique and its hard to get enough of his emotionless face. There is a bit of everything in this show and we are impatiently awaiting the second season.

First Impressions: Assassination Classroom

This anime series was released last year in Japan and was picked up by Funimation for the US release. The first season has 22 episodes and the second season which will have 25 is currently coming out. A live-action movie is also out.

The series revolves around a reject class of high school students from class E that are tasked with trying to assassinate their new teacher. The teacher happens to be an alien octopus like creature who if not assassinated by graduation will destroy the world. The kids soon find out the task of killing Koro-sensei (as they cal him) is next to impossible because of his super human abilities.

Each student has their own troubles and backgrounds but the series seems to focus on one Nagisa who seems to be the weakest in the lot but has the most talent when it comes to blood lust. The cast can be a bit zany and the series takes on a very comical tone with bits of seriousness thrown in here and there.

I find this series very amusing and like that not everything is as it seems.

First Impressions: ~Monster Musume~ (mature anime)

Okay, so I had been a little familiar with the series “Monster Musume” quite a while ago as it was a random manga I had looked at while at the bookstore. Very quickly when you look through a few pages you know exactly what kind of manga it is, ecchi overflowing. I thought it was amusing but not enough to read through and get into the story. Now fast forward and the anime version is being released. I figured “eh why not” and checked it out, now I can’t wait for the episodes to come out fast enough!

The anime is so awkwardly hilarious, I find myself laughing throughout every episode. The shenanigans these monster girls get into are crazy and super amusing through and through! But be warned this is a mature anime, lots of boobies and questionable actions.

The story revolves around a young man named Kimihito who takes on monster girls (being forced to originally) for a homestay exchange program. The knowledge of different humanoid species has been acknowledged by the government and so to learn more about each other they have made it to where other species can come stay in the human areas to learn. Kimihito winds up with seven girls to take care of all of different species.

This series is so funny and as long as you are old enough defiantly check it out! Have you read or watched this series? Tell me what you think about it! Which girl is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

~Ranma 1/2~ Don’t get wet!

Ranma 1/2 was the second series I was introduced to that was created by Rumiko Takahashi the first being “Inuyasha”. There are 38 volumes of manga, over 150 episodes of anime and even a few full-length films. I always thought this series was very comedic and silly but also had a few serious moments here and there that made you closer to the characters. Warning, however, there is lots of boobies all throughout the series, it is mainly about a boy who gets turned into a girl if he gets wet with cold water so…yeah he has no shame. 6_6

The story revolves around a boy named Ranma, who fell into a cursed spring along with his father on a training mission. The aftermath of them falling into the spring Ranma turns into a girl any time he is splashed with cold water, and his father turns into a large panda. They come to live with another family the Tendo’s who own a dojo. Ranma is betrothed to one of the three daughters, and it is decided the lucky girl is tough as nails Akane who seems to think Ranma is irritating and a clod. The hilarity ensues as multiple love triangles form, and each person has their own curses and past.

A large part of the plot is the various types of martial arts each person uses to fight with. Some of the moves are wacky but none the less interesting. Lots of rivalries occur between the characters, and the fights are always entertaining and fun. Check it out and let me know what you think about this series!
