First Impressions~Dagashi Kashi~

Dagashi Kashi is an anime series that is being simulcasted at the moment on Hulu and Crunchyroll that I know of. All together there will be 12 episodes so there is only one left to be released. Also there are a few mature aspects of the show so be warned.

The story revolves around a young man Kokonotsu, who wants to be a manga artist but his father wants him to take over the family business of running an old fashioned Dagashi shop. Dagashi are candy and snacks that are normally very cheap to buy, so perfect for young kids to get with allowance. Kokonotsu doesn’t have a great interest in Dagashi and soon a quirky girl Hotaru, crashes into his life wanting to recruit his father for her family’s large sweets corporation. To achieve this she must convince Kokonotsu of the wonders of Dagashi so he will take over the shop.

It is very interesting seeing all the candy and snacks in the show and hearing little facts and stories about each one. Watching this light hearted show  will make you want snacks for sure so be careful watching it on an empty stomach! The characters can be eccentric and silly but also each have their own personality which adds to the dynamic of the show.

Have you watched this series? What did you think of it? Are there any Dagashi would love to try? Let me know all about it in the comments!

~Trying Umaibo~

My daughter and I have been wanting to try the ageless popular Japanese snack called Umaibo which translates as “delicious stick”. There are many different flavors and what they basically are is cylindrical corn puffs seasoned. Here we try each one and find out what we think of them. ¬†Spoiler alert: some of them are NOT good =_=.
